The Small Fang Toothed Skull - by Cummy Jenkins

After returning to Outhgill, Cummy visited Father Albon in the evening at the Church to ask him about whether he has any knowledge about people living in the area who fit the description of the small, fang toothed skull he brought back with him from the underground complex. Cummy was relieved when Father Albon did not give him the same lustful, homoerotic gaze that he would give the altar boys during sermons since it was just Cummy and Albon alone in the church. Albon mused about brownies, goblins and other wonderous creatures as well as the possibility that the person whose skull Albon was examining used to be part of some cult or religion where they would file their teeth. ALbon didn't seem to be certain though, and spoke of these things with little conviction as if he were reciting fairy tales. Cummy escaped from the church unmolested, but damp from being sprinkled with holy water from the blessing Albon provided him. Albon also mentioned to Cummy that Old Hag Morag in the woods may have more information about the skull as well as Lord Orm.

Cummy was content with this information until he was passing Old Man Cromley and his son, Also Old And Not As Young As You Initially Thought Cromley, as well as Bruce who was telling the Cromleys about the skull that Cummy brought back. Cummy was at first annoyed that Bruce was telling others about the skull but his annoyance quickly faded once he saw how invested Old Man Cromley was in seeing the skull, and how Cromley spoke of there being creatures that matched the skulls description in the woods. Old Man Cromley still seemed sharp in his advanced age and he obviously was well travelled so Cummy felt more confident in Cromley's knowledge of the topic compared to Albon's musings. Old Man Cromley also pointed out that this skull seemed to have passed fairly recent in the sense that the creature could have passed within a few decades and not hundreds of years ago.

Cummy and the group, with the addition of new members Fug and Tarre, journeyed back out to the underground complex. The group had no encounters along the way and once inside the complex, they noticed that it seemed there may have been some people who ventured into the complex after they last left. Chauncey with torch in hand, tried to investigate the rooms they were last in to see if there was anything out of place, or if he could get a better idea of who may have passed through, but didn't notice anything very different aside from the increased foot traffic. The group returned to the area where they encountered and killed the wolves and where Heinrich perished (RIP) to seek out the secret door that was marked on the map of the complex. Chauncey and Tarre were watching the hallway as Bruce, Cummy and Fug cleared out debris and posts infront of where the door should be and finally, Fug was able to open the door.

On the other side of the door was about a 30 foot deep hole with a ladder that allowed descension. The group propped the secret door open so it wouldn't close shut on them from behind, and they descended down the ladder which led to a narrow crawl space. The group crawled single file to the end of the tunnel where a ladder led them up to another door which Fug was able to open. The door opened revealing a 20x20 room filled with skeletons in monastic robes as well as treasures in the room. The cause of death of these monks did not seem to be related to violence, but instead, it seemed they might have perished in this room by trying to hide from invading northerners.

The group looted the treasures (silver crosses, gold crosses, a jeweled altar cross, psalters as well as a chest filled with contents, etc.) and started hauling the treasures to the entrance. The group went back down the ladder and through the tunnel with Fug leading the way and they climbed the ladder up into the room where they encountered the wolves until they realized something was amiss. A gaunt, pale and malnourished looking man in tattered clothing stood at the entrance of the hallway watching the group. Fug tried to break the tension and surprise of encountering this person who, the longer the group looked at it seemed more creature than man, by asking it if it was hungry. The creature let out unintelligible groans and quickly ran down the hallway and down the slope back towards the entrance. The party could hear the creature's bare feet hitting the pavement, as well as what sounded like other creatures who were also running as well. The party, unnerved by this encounter, started to quickly and as cautiously as they could, retreat back to the entrance. Cummy was disturbed by the encounter with this creature, but not as much as Chauncey.
