Wilderness Crawl (Solo)
Mapping the North, Foray 3 - by Lommond A large, overgrown area to the front of the church hid a gallows, perhaps identifying it as the village square. Nearby was a wooden structure, after a quick listen at the door Skullcrusher forced it open. There, standing gobsmacked before us, were several kobolds. In the far corner, one was fiddling with a couple of large sacks. When we burst in he tried to hide what he was doing. Brother Klang took to the fore and ordered the beasts to leave the area and return to their dens. They didn't like being treated that way and, yipping and yelping in their tongue, they charged us. The fight was quick and we were generally uninjured. I rifled through the bags and discovered about 1000 silver pieces. With the electrum from yesterday (possibly the Ratmen's or even the Kobold's) and the silver pieces today we were sure there must be a hoard around here somewhere. Kobold's don't carry this amount of coin around with them.
I and the rest were happy to delay our mapping of the North in favour of further exploring the village. We took the coin back to the mule in the church and decided to continue exploring the area around the square.
We discovered another orchard. Before we could pick more apples, giant toads leapt upon us from the depths of the trees. This battle was hard fought. All of us sustaining injuries from the croaking creatures. A couple of them were injured and fled. The poor hill dwarf, Hillock, was beset upon by two of the creatures and one landed right atop him. The other tried to swallow him in the middle of the battle. The last remaining toad was scared off when Brother Klang pulled the same trick Hillock did against the ratmen and laid Moradin's light on the creature's eyes; effectively blinding it.
We dragged poor Hillock's lifeless body back to the church. Brother Klang whispered prayers for Hillock's spirit and beseeched Moradin to care for his faithful. Klang then went about ministering to our injuries as we counted the silver and electrum.
That was more than enough for the day.
